In this insights series from our founder and CEO Lori Teranishi, we explore seven critical trends that demand immediate attention from CEOs and their leadership teams. These trends, which we’ve observed in our work with clients across sectors and geographies, collectively signal an era of continuous disruption, emphasizing the urgent need for businesses to build resilience, agility and foresight to navigate the challenges ahead.

Critical Trend 1: AI Revolution and Technological Transformation

AI is poised to replace the mobile phone as the most life-altering technology of our existence, revolutionizing job roles, raising ethical concerns and transforming business operations. While creating efficiencies and enabling work to be done more rapidly, AI will also render certain jobs obsolete, compelling individuals to reassess and adapt their skill sets. AI systems with access to sensitive information pose security risks, and institutional AI output can reflect biases and limitations of its training data, potentially leading to unintended consequences.

As the volume of misinformation, disinformation and deceptive content grows online, distinguishing truth becomes increasingly challenging. How will AI systems effectively filter out false or malicious information? How can corporations protect their reputations when a false narrative takes hold? The challenge is compounded by major platforms like Meta seemingly abandoning efforts to curate truth, while content on X (formerly Twitter) has been increasingly unreliable for some time.

As AI rapidly transforms consumer and employee expectations, businesses face the challenge of adapting to a new reality where AI-driven interactions become the norm, occurring at unprecedented speed and scale. This shift will require companies to navigate complex legal, ethical, social and political considerations, many of which will resonate deeply with employees as these issues extend beyond the workplace.

Organizational Response:

  • Leverage AI for enhanced customer experiences and operational efficiency
  • Prioritize LLM-friendly content optimized for AI search, adjusted for a new era of SEO
